Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, member of Yemen’s Supreme Political Council, condemned the assassination of Iran’s top general Qassim Soleimani and the deputy commander of Iraq’s Hash al-Shaabi (the Popular Mobilization Units) Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis.
“A quick reprisal from the bases [in the region] is the only answer and solution,” Al-Houthi wrote in a twitter post on Friday.
Major-General Soleimani, head of the elite Quds Force, and al-Muhandis were killed late on Thursday in a US air strike on their convoy in Baghdad airport.
“The American and Israeli enemy is responsible for killing the mujahideen Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis and Qassim Soleimani,” said Ahmed al-Assadi, a spokesman for Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Unit.
The assassination of the two military leaders and their companions drew condemnation from Iran and its allies in the region.
